My name is Genevieve Smith and I am currently living and working in the UK on a two year working visa. I am at the stage of my life where I am accepting the responsibility and structure of studying and pursuing my goal of becoming a Primary School Teacher. Effective teaching is achieved through a variety of teaching methods; emphasis should be placed on developing understanding, not just on achieving high test scores. A variety of teaching methods need to be used because students learn at different rates and respond to different stimuli, each individual will require a different environment in order to achieve his/her optimum learning curve. Varying the learning methods employed also helps ensure that student motivation and interest is maintained.
